Quote Of The Week

From the inimitable Glenn Reynolds over at InstaPundit:

"I flew Air New Zealand once, from Auckland to L.A., with the New Zealand national rugby team, but I didn’t see anyone I wanted to cuddle with . . . ."

Heh-heh.

In The Garden Of Obama

Have you ever noticed how simple it is to tell the truth? Mark Twain once remarked that if you tell the truth, you don't have to remember much. So why is it that The Empty Suit took over 17 minutes* to answer a woman's complaint that we're already over-taxed? Why is it that politicians in general -- but especially "liberal" polititicans -- have to expend so many words "explaining" things?

We doubt seriously that his answer would have been significantly shorter if he had had his teleprompter available. Truth needs few words; falsehoods require many.

The simple truth, of course, is that this country is already over-taxed. And things are not about to get any better. It's doubtful that very many people realize just how bad off the economy is. But to some of us, it's all too obvious. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be all that obvious to those who are in a position to do something about it, as they seem to be constantly doing exactly the wrong thing.

And maybe that's their plan.

(*Kudos to you if you grok that 17-minute reference. And if you actually watched -- or even read -- that response.... well, either you deserve a medal or you should head off to the nearest mental health clinic for a marble inventory.)
