Useless Statistics

The AP now reports that the number of millionaires worldwide is at an all-time high. There are, as you might imagine, two problems with their worthless statistics.

The first involves inflation. Let's face it, a million bucks doesn't go as far as it used to. Had they bothered to adjust their numbers for the inflation of the world's money supply, there would probably be no story.

The other problem, of course, is how the discrete number of millionaires translates into a percentage of the world population. Again, there would probably be no story.

But some people never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
